Bell tent FAQ

1. Where are your bell tents made?

In China, like most bell tents in the UK market. However, we have worked closely with an established factory to make bell tents to our own specification. We sent our own Quality Control Manager to the factory during manufacturing to ensure that each tent is beautifully made.

2. What's included with the tent? Do I need to buy anything else?

The tent comes with durable groundsheet attached by zips and all the poles and pegs required for the bell tent and guy ropes. It comes in a large carry bag.

3. How big are the bell tents inside?

The centre pole is around 250cm high and the tent walls are 55cm high.

4. How heavy are the bell tents?

The total weight is around 23kg including poles and pegs.

5. How does the zip-in groundsheet system work? Does it stop water coming in?

The gourdsheet is deep at the edges so that water doesn't seep in and the zips are waterproof.

6. Is the bell tent waterproof?

No canvas material is waterproof but it has been treated with a waterproofing agent which makes water form beads on the surface. In addition the cotton canvas fibres expand when wet to work with the waterproofing agent to form a waterproof surface. As with all canvas tents, they may need a period of "weathering" before they are completely watertight. This means that the first few times the bell tent is used it may not be completely waterproof as the fibres expand. If you are concerned about this on a first camping trip it is recommended that the tent be sprayed lightly with water and dried thoroughly before using again. You will know when it's time to do this because the water no longer forms beads and starts to soak in. Your bell tent should be treated as a long term investment and with a little care and attention should provide you with many a happy and dry camping trip!

7. Is the bell tent flame retardant?

No, like most bell tents available in Europe it is not flame retardant so it is not recommended that naked flames are used in or near the tent. That's why we sell LED tea lights!
